What is HAM?

HAM, which stands for Home Automated Management, is the software engineering project of three Buena Vista University students. The project will last the duration of the 2014 Spring semester and represents the capstone computer science class for at least one of the members of the project. The goal of the project is to simulate a company that would provide remote home management to its clients, allowing them to turn lights on and off in their house, set a schedule to turn lights on and off, and perform other basic functions such as these. Since we do not have our own houses to install these systems, we will be creating model houses with LED lights to simulate real light bulbs. We will write software that will allow clients to set these lights to turn on and off on demand as well as on a schedule.

You can visit this blog for hints and tips on how you can create a similar software engineering project. We certainly welcome any comments, suggestions, or questions that you might have.

We realize that the order of the words in our project title breaks the convention in english that adjectives should precede nouns, but couldn't resist the ordering the words as he did so we could have an awesome acronym for our name.
